I don't know if others do that same. But one of the first things that I do when I start reading a book, I check the publication date. And it matters more when you are reading a technical book such as these. Technology evolves fast and even faster if the technology is fairly new (e.g. Data Science)

For example, "Think Like a Data Scientist" was published in 2017. Mind that the book is more about the approach which is a big picture. The reader should have that in mind when reading it. And also try to fill in blanks between 2017 and now. That way you can have more complete picture as of now.
